Giant pandas are bears that are native 

to China.

Cubs are born blind and with their fur spread out. 

Bamboo make up 99 percent of the giant panda's 

diet.

The giant panda is an endangered species.

It takes about five years for a female cub to 

become an adult and up to seven years for a 

male cub.

Giant pandas begin to grow hair until about 3 

months old.

Giant pandas do not hibernate.

The Giant Panda becomes independent 

from its mother after about 18 months. 

Giant pandas have a strong jawbone and sharp 

teeth, to help them crunch on the bamboo.

Black and white markings help the 

giant panda keep a steady 

temperature.

According to a legend, the giant panda was 

once an all-white bear.

The giant panda has the largest molar 

teeth of any carnivore.

Much of the food that a giant panda eat is not 

digested.

On average, a giant panda eats 25-30 

pounds of bamboo in one day

A Giant panda is a symbol of peace in China.

Most of the remaining wild giant pandas live in 

the Minshan and Qinling mountains.

Giant pandas do not hibernate because their 

bamboo diets do not allow them to store 

enough fat reserves for the winter.

Giant pandas have a very good sense of smell.
