Abolitionist stood to end slavery, encourage
personal freedom and treat everyone equal.

Harriet was known as a HERO to slaves.
She HELPED over 300 slaves escape.
She was very BRAVE.
Harriet helped slaves escape using the Underground
Railroad.
Underground Railroad: A number of safe HOMES that
HID slaves as they traveled north. The slaves would
travel from station to station at night. Sometimes they
would hide in the woods and sneak onto trains until
they finally reached the north for FREEDOM.
FUN FACT: Harriet Tubman was a former slave herself.

Frederick Douglass— was a former slave and became
free at age 20. He traveled around the world and
lectured against slavery. He also published a
newspaper.

William Lloyd Garrison was raised very poor. He wore
many hats from a shoe maker, cabinetmaker and editor
of the Newburyport Herald. He was an AWESOME
American Abolitionist.Garrison helped form the New
England Antislavery Society. Garrison also supported
the Civil War and wanted to end slavery.
