September 7 to the end of October in 1940 the
Luftwaffe (German air force) began to bomb
main cities including London. Hitler believed the
killing of more than 30,000 civilians would force
Great Britain to surrender, however the Royal
Air Force (Great Britain) shot down many
German aircrafts forcing Germany to give up on
conquering Great Britain.



September 1st, 1939, Germany
unpredictably invades Poland, attacking
them swiftly and unexpectedly, this
became known as “blitzkrieg”. Germany
takes over the western half of Poland
within 17 days; Great Britain and France
declare war on Germany, sparking World
War II.

370,000 French, Belgium, and British soldiers
are forced back to Dunkerque Beach and put at
a vulnerable stand point with the conquering
from Germany of Denmark, Norway, Belgium,
and Netherlands. May 30 to June 4 in 1940,
338,000 soldiers are rescued from the beach
using everything from destroyers, gunboats,
yachts, fishing boats, motorboats, and
rowboats.



Germany breaks the non-aggression pact on
June 22nd 1941 and attacks Soviet Union.
Extremely cold winter, freeze to death German
soldiers, guns or tanks would not function
properly, and the Russians also used scorched
earth tactics. In spring of 1942 the Germans
lost this battle.


April 9, 1942 in the Bataan Peninsula Phillippe
and American forces surrendered to the
Japanese and taken as prisoners, marching 60
miles to prison camps. During the march many
of the prisoners were either shot or decapitated
by Japanese soldiers. This became known as
the “Bataan Death March”.


August 23rd, 1939, Joachim von Ribbentrop
(Germany’s Minister for Foreign Affairs) and
Vyacheslav Molotov (USSR Politician) sign the “Non-
Aggression Pact” agreeing not to attack each other
and dividing up Poland once taken over of. This
ensures the Nazis only have to fight in the west and
not in the east.


October 1942, Britain and American forces
drive out the Germans and save the Suez
Canal. They were stopped in the city of El
Alamein; this was a significant turning point in
the war.


September 3, 1943 American, British, and
Canadian soldiers invaded Italy. This caused
Benito Mussolini, the dictator of Italy to fall
from power and have the Italians surrender.


At 7:55 A.M. December 7, 1941, a surprise
attack from Japanese airplanes bombed an
American naval base in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
This then caused the United States to declare
war on Japan the next day.


Since many of the men of America were joining
the war after the bombing of Pearl Harbor,
many women began to work in “masculine”
jobs; for example truck drivers, garbage
collectors, and even working in meat-packing
plants.


370,000 Soldiers Are Left Vulnerable To
German Nazi On Dunkirk Beach
Prime Minister Winston Churchill demands
every British boat to rescue the American and
British soldiers. 338,000 soldiers are rescued
while the Luftwaffe attacked by air.
Italian And German Soldiers Invade
Ethiopia
In Attempt To Take The Suez Canal
British and American soldiers stop the Axis
Powers in Egypt at El Alamein and save Suez
Canal, driving them out of Northern Africa.

Allied Soldiers Invade Italy
Allied soldiers take out Italians out of the war,
capturing and executing Benito Mussolini.
German troops take over Italy, continuing the
war.
Allied Troops Reclaim France
June 6, 1944 over 3 million troops invade
French beaches making German troops retreat
taking back France, Belgium, and Luxemburg.
Pearl Harbor Bombed By The Japanese
Japan bombs naval base in Hawaii destroying
200 planes, 19 ships, and killing 2400
Americans. Franklin D. Roosevelt declares war
on Japan, two days later Italy and Germany
declare war on the United States.
