Once upon a time, in an igloo that
stood in an Alaska fishing village,
there lived a girl named Eskirella.
One chilly afternoon, Eskirella was
ice fishing in the pond next to her
igloo.

A sled pulled by dogs arrived and a messenger got out to knock on
the igloo door. He handed Eskirella's cold-hearted stepmother an
invitation to the Ice Palace Ball.

Her stepmother and stepsisters bragged
about going to the ball and leaving
Eskirella home to do all the chores.
"You can't go to the ball in that old,
warn out snowsuit," chanted the cold-
hearted stepsisters."
"Maybe I can," responded Eskirella. "I
can find some caribou skins and make a
nice dress by then."
"No, that won't be possible,"
interjected the ice cold stepmother.
"We need you to stay here, polish up
the igloo, and chop ice, in case one of
your sisters meets the Ice Prince and
invites him to come here for a snow
cone one day."
"It just isn't fair," thought Eskirella,
as she went back to drilling holes in
the ice in order to catch some fish.

As she lowered the fishing rod into the hole, a giant polar bear broke through
the ice and greeted her.
"Stop crying, Eskirella. I am your Polar Fairy and I am here to grant your wishes.
"What? How can you do that?" Eskirella asked astonished.
"Being that you would like to go to the ball, I have the magic that can make that
happen.
"Well I wish that I just had a caribou dress, a scarf, and some sparkling
snowshoes, as well as a way to get to the ball because my cold stepmother and
ice-cold stepsisters wouldn't dream of taking me along," cried Eskirella.

Just then, the Polar Fairy whisked his
icicle wand into the frosty air and
POOF! Eskirella transformed into a
beautiful ice princess. She looked at
her refelction in the icy water to see
herself wearing a wonderful caribou
dress with a frilly collar, a sparkling
snowflake scarf, and glittery
snowshoes. The Polar Fairy waved his
icicle wand one more time and POOF!
there stood a fancy sled pulled by two
huskies. Eskirella gave the Polar Fairy
a warm hug and hopped onto the sled.

"Wait! One more thing, shouted the Polar Fairy. "Make sure that you
are back home before the sun comes up and melts all of the magic
away!"
Eskirella heard him, and made a note to herself. The huskies pulled
that sled so swiftly that she was at the ball before she knew it.
The Ice Palace sparkled and glittered like snowflakes in the sun.

Eskirella dashed across the sled carpet
and into the doorway, where she hopped
out and entered the palace. She was no
longer recognized by her stepsisters and
stepmother.
However, the Ice Prince noticed her at
once, and whisked her across the dance
rink. The danced across the ice all
evening, and Eskirella's snowshoes
enabled her to glide across the ice
gracefully.

They danced all evening, and when Eskirella saw the sun begin to
rise, the note she made to herself earlier popped into her mind. In a
panic, without even saying goodbye to the prince, she dashed out
the door to her sled, but on the way, her snowshoe came undone, so
she had to leave it behind only for the prince to find it as he ran
after her.

A few days later, the Ice Prince
searched the icy tundra for the
beautiful girl in the caribou dress. He
went to every igloo, hoping to find the
warm foot that would fit into the
snowshoe. Alas, he approached the igloo
of the three cold stepsisters and ice
cold stepmother.
"Let me try," each stepsister called as
they pushed and shoved one another,
trying to fit their cold feet into the
shoe. Just then, drawn by her warmth,
the prince approached Eskirella.
"Please be so kind as to try this
snowshoe on for me," he requested.
Eskirella did so, knowing it would
fit. The prince immediately asked her
to marry him, as he presented
Eskirella with a diamond ring that
shined like snowflakes in the sun.
