       My mother and I are flying to Switzerland 

to visit my aunt and uncle. I've never traveled 

to a different country before. My mother told 

me that Switzerland is one of the wealthiest 

countries in the world. I wonder what it will 

be like! 

When we landed in Zurich, a tram took us to Lucerne. 

Lucerne is a city on the edge of the Swiss Alps, which 

is a mountain range that stretches about 1,000 miles 

across Europe. This is a picture of the house my aunt 

and uncle live in. 

My mom, my aunt and I traveled to the mountains 

today. They're only 20 miles away from the house. I 

love it here so far! 

Sometimes, my aunt and uncle speak French to each 

other. They explained that it is one of the 3 official 

languages and is spoken by 20% of the Swiss people. 

Maybe I'll know some French by the end of my trip. 

One night, my aunt made a special Swiss dish called 

Aelplermagronen. It's made with onions, potatoes, 

macaroni, and LOTS of cheese. It was délicieux, 

delicious! My uncle told me that we're going into the 

village tomorrow for a special surprise. I'm so excited!
