     The Hidden Vegetables

     Brandon was a young boy who loved 

spaghetti and meatballs so much that he would 

count meatballs in his sleep instead of sheep. 

Brandon would pile his plate high with 

spaghetti. He would then pour on spaghetti 

sauce until it dripped off his plate unto the 

table.

     Mommy would make really big meatballs. 

She made two special meatballs for Brandon 

every time. When Brandon ate all his spaghetti 

and meatballs mommy would offer him the 

choice between a delicious apple and a nice 

firm plum for dessert. Brandon had no problem 

eating his spaghetti and meatballs. He did have 

one problem though.

     Brandon had a big problem eating 

vegetables. He knew that carrots were good 

for the eyes, broccoli was great for the bones  

and yams were filled with (oxy tents). Brandon 

did not know how to say anti-oxidants but he 

sure knew they were good for him.

     Mommy tried to hide vegetables on his plate 

under the tasty food.

     Brandon being a smart little boy, would wait 

until mommy looked away. That is when he 

would take the hidden vegetables and wrap 

them in his napkin.

     'You ate all your vegetables Brandon. Good 

for you' mommy would say proudly.

     Brandon was not a big fan of tomatoes. He 

would tell mommy they made his tummy upset. 

Mommy would try to put them in a salad but 

Brandon would pick out every piece and place 

them on a napkin.

     Mommy saw Brandon hide the food but she 

just smiled and continued eating her meal.

     Mommy would find a way to get the 

vegetables into Brandon. Mommies are always 

smarter than children. Green pepper was good 

and spinach was good for the muscles. They 

sounded healthy but they did not have a taste 

that Brandon would like.

     'There is no way I can eat vegetables 

mommy' Brandon said.

     'I know all the vegetables are good for me 

but no way am I going to eat them' Brandon 

replied with great determination.

     Mommy just smiled as she listened to the 

determination in Brandon's voice.

     'Are you sure you do not like all the 

vegetables that I try to give you?' mommy asked 

Brandon.

     'I know for sure mommy that I can pick out 

any vegetable you give me. I have a great power 

to know whenever there is food hidden with my 

other food that I do like. I am a super guy and 

I can eat spaghetti sauce and meatballs all the 

time. That is where I get all my power and 

strength' Brandon replied with a happy smile.

     'Well Brandon you are very smart for a little 

guy. It is great that you possess powers to pick 

out all the vegetables that you know that are 

truly good for you. I know you think you can find 

all those vegetables in your food buy I have a 

big secret to tell you. It is a mystery for you to 

discover on your own' mommy said.

      I think you should use your special powers 

to solve this mystery. Would you be interested 

in solving a mystery Brandon?' mommy asked 

with a grin on her face.

     'Yes mommy. I am really ready. I love 

mysteries. I think that I am good at solving 

every thing' Brandon replied.

     'Okay. I will call it. 'Mystery of The Hidden 

Vegetables' mommy spoke in a direct voice.

     Brandon was confused. He could pick out any 

hidden vegetable. Mommy could never trick him 

into eating the good vegetables as mommy calls 

them. He wondered where these vegetables 

could be hidden.

     Brandon closed his eyes and created some 

super power. He needed a lot of power to solve 

this mystery. He thought and thought and 

thought some more. It definitely was a difficult 

mystery. He was determined not to give up.

      'Do you need any hints Brandon? It is okay to 

ask for a little help' mommy said kindly.

     'Maybe your powers are weak because you 

have not eaten all the vegetables that are good 

for you. After all if there isn't any good 

vegetables in your body you must be a very weak 

boy' mommy continued to say with a slight smile 

on her face.

     'But I am not weak. I am strong mommy' 

Brandon seriously replied.

     'I feel healthy. I can see really well. I can 

run because my bones are strong. I have all kinds 

of muscles to lift heavy things. The (oxy tents) 

help me grow big and healthy. I do not eat 

vegetables and I am still healthy. How could 

there be a 'Mystery of the Hidden Vegetables'? 

Brandon asked with a puzzle look on his 

handsome face.

     'I will help you with the mystery by giving 

you some hints' mommy kindly offered Brandon.

     'Okay mommy. I will take one hint' Brandon 

requested.

     Mommy asked him what his favorite meal 

was. Brandon answered in a very sure voice.

      Brandon answered 'spaghetti, sauce and big 

meatballs'. There was no secret in how much 

Tony loved his spaghetti and meatballs.

     'I am going to perform some magic. You like 

magic right Brandon?' mommy asked.

     'Magic is really cool'   he replied .
