Hello! My name is Rosa Parks!

I was born on February 4th in Alabama. I was a 

very small baby and got sick a lot!

This is my family! We used to all live together, 

but then my daddy moved away. My mom, my 

little brother, Sylvester, and I went to move 

with my grandma and grandpa.

My mom home schooled me until I was eleven 

years old, until....

... I could finally, finally go to a school with 

other kids! I thought it was gonna be great! 

There would be a nice classroom, a clean water 

fountain, and a pretty elevator, just like the 

school in town!...

...Or not... 

It was a stuffy, one room school that didn't 

have enough desks. Only black girls were 

allowed, because of segregation. There was a 

lot of segregation in my childhood!

There were some buildings I couldn't go into, 

some bathrooms I couldn't use, even some 

water fountains were off limits to me! There 

were even mean people called the Klu Klux Klan 

who set black people's houses on fire! I was 

afraid of them for a long time. 

In fact, even some other kids bullied me 

because of my skin color....

....But I didn't let it bother me too much.
