The Black Death started along the Silk Road in Europe in 1328 and lasted
until 1351.

The Black Death mostly infected the rats. People were infected by fleas that lived on
the rat. The rats carried the fleas and began to infected the world with the plague.

People started to die. Dead bodies and trash began to fill the streets. With the trash
in the streets the rats began to breed very fast and spread the plague very quickly.
People would also spread the disease by coughing and touching one another. Since
the people probably didn't have enough money to by protective clothes they
contracted the sickness faster.

Healthy people hopped on a ship to try to escape the sickness, but they took the rats
and fleas with them. They went from port to port without knowing that the rats and
fleas were carrying the sickness.

Most of the people were poor and couldn't afford a "plague doctor" but they wasn't much
help anyways. Doctors wore mask to protect themselves from getting sick.

The people thought that God was trying to punish them. So they would worship him and pray
that he would spare them. People would carry flowers to block out the smell of the dead
bodies.

The authorities demanded that all of the houses and dead bodies should be burned.
Sometimes the whole town was burned completely down.

Some of the symptoms that you would get would be......
Painful swellings (buboes) of the lymph nodes. These swellings, or buboes, would
appear in the armpits, legs, neck, or groin. A bubo was at first a red color. The
bubo then turned a dark purple color, or black. Other symptoms of the Black
Death included: a very high fever, delirium, the victim begins to vomit, muscular
pains, bleeding in the lungs, and mental disorientation.
