Cellular Respiration is a process in which glucose, known as sugar, is broken down to make ATP.It all
starts with the sun and photosynthesis.

Photosynthesis is a complex process that takes place in plant cells.Cellular respiration has 3 steps,
Glycolysis, Kreb's Cycle, and The Electron Transport
Chain.

The equation above shows what happens during Glycolysis.Glycolysis happens in the cytoplasm.2 ATP are
used to split glucose into 2 3 Carbon molecules called
Pruvic acid.

When oxygen is not present Fermentation comes into play.Fermentation doesn't require oxygen so
it's considered anaerobic.There are 2 types of
fermentation , alcoholic and lactic.

The first type of fermentation is alcoholic fermentation.Alcoholic fermentation produces CO2 and NAD+.
Alcoholic fermentation causes bread dough to rise.When
yeast in the dough runs out of oxygen it starts to ferment,
giving off bubbles of carbon dioxide that form air spaces
you see in slices of bread.

The last type of fermentation is Lactic Acid fermentation.Lactic Acid is produced in your
muscle cells when your working out vigorously
and oxygen isn't able to supply your muscle
cells.

In the Kreb's Cycle the pyruvic acid from Glycolysis is combinedwith a 4 carbon compound forming a 6 carbon compound.Then
CO2 is released from the 6 carbon compound leaving a 5 carbon
compound.The same thing happens and a 4 carbon compound is
left.FAD collects electrons and create FADH2.From here on the
4 carbon compound is converted back to the 6 carbon compound.
The products of this reaction are 1 ATP,FADH2, and NADH.
The Kreb's Cycle takes place in the mitochondria.
