Jose Guadalupe Posada
Jose Posada was a Mexican political
printmaker who was born on February 2, 1852.
He was famous for his satirical works about the
bourgeois and life under the dictatorship. Much
of his work has been associated with the
holiday, the Day of the Dead.

Era famoso de sus trabajos satíricos sobre el
burgués y vida bajo la dictadura. La mayor
parte de su trabajo ha tenido que ver con las
vacaciones, el Día de los Muertos.


Origin....
The origin of the day of the dead goes back
to 1600 Latin America. As Catholic
conquistadors came to the New World, they
brought along the hope of creating Catholic
colonies to fulfill their “Duty to God”. They
forced their religion, including the Christian
holiday “All Saint’s Day”. The combination of
the way the Mesoamericans honored their dead
and how the Christians theirs, created the
iconic Day of the Dead.

El origen del dia los muertos va espaldo a
Americano Latino de mil siescietos. Como
catolicas conquistedores llegaron al nueve
mundo, trageron a lo largo de la esperanza
crear colonias catolicas a cumplir su “deber a
Dios”. Fozaron su religion, incluso las
vacaciones cristianas “el Dia de todo el Santo”.
La combinación del modo que Mesoamericans
honró a sus muertos y cómo los cristianos
suyos, creó el Día iconic de los Muertos.
