On March 10th, 1943, railcars rolled into Bulgaria under orders of Adolf Hitler. They had a plan to take every Jew and transport them to the Death camp Treblinka. But not a single Jew was transported that day. Why did this Happen?

The people of Bulgaria where outraged once they found out about these ridiculous orders from Adolf Hitler. They where supposed to let Germany take part of their people and transport them to a death camp just because they where Jewish? Bulgarian Citizens where not happy...

The populace of Bulgaria did it's best to keep anything from happening to their Jews. A pastor, a member of parliment and the king himself did everything they possibly could to keep the Jews in the borders.

the pastor staged many protests, as he and his church claimed they would lie on the train tracks to keep the Jews from going and they would try to pray for them.

The member of the parliament had 43 official signatures from all parts of the government to bring in some official help.

Finally, the king Boris himself had a meeting with Hitler where he told him that he would not allow Bulgaria's jews outside the border because he needed them for work.

Hitler got very very angry and spent hours telling him how stupid he was being and how the Jews must die, but the king didn't like that and threatened him to leave or else. In the end, Hitler finally left Bulgaria because he wanted a good war ally and allowed the Jews to stay in Bulgaria.

All the Jews were overjoyed to still be alive even and they thanked all the people that had helped out or even sacrificed their lives to keep these innocent people safe from harm.
