My family, my aunt and uncle, and my cousins and 

I are going on vacation to Gettysburg. We had to 

leave the house by 11:00 a.m. It took us an hour and 40 

minutes to get there. My cousins left a half an hour later 

than we did and didn't get there till 1:15 p.m. 

1. What time was it when my immediate family and i got to 

Gettysburg?

2. How long did it take my cousins to get there?

The hotel we are staying at is apparently 

haunted by the ghosts of the Confederate Army. 

The people who worked there claimed they have 

heard and seen many ghostly things happen at 

the hotel. Of the 6 workers we talked to 4 

said   they have seen these things happen.

1. What is the probability of the people we 

talked at the hotel claim to have seen ghosts?

2. Convert 4/6 to a percent.

3. Would you like to stay at a haunted hotel? 

Or.... are you afraid of ghosts?

Once we were settled at the hotel, we headed off to 

see the wonders of the town, the battlefields and all 

the other famous, important places in Gettysburg. 

There was a lot of people! One of the battlefields we 

went to was a rectangle.   It was 4,000 feet wide and 

8,000 feet long

1. What is the area of the battlefield?

2. What is the perimeter?

WOW!

We had tons of fun out looking around the famous sites! 

After looking around the sites, we realized how late it was 

and then decided to go out and look for ghosts in the 

dark. Ghost hunting is a big thing to do when you're out 

at Gettysburg. We thought the whole town was out 

looking for ghosts that night! 16% of 900 people said 

they saw ghosts.

1. How many people claimed they saw ghosts?

2. If 2,000 people were asked how many of them were 

likely to see a ghost?

3. Wow! I think i just saw a ghost. Did you?

at night! 

The next day, after looking for ghosts,(which was a 

fail)! We went out for breakfast. We decided to go down 

to a McDonald's down the street from our hotel. My 

cousin and I wanted cinnamon buns, which were $1.45 

each. The rest of the family got the pancakes which my 

brother claimed was the "sheebiest joint."(don't ask). 

All 8 of us got drinks, which cost $1.25 a piece. The 

total cost came to $28.40.

After devouring our delicious cinnamon buns, we 

decided to go out and see the rest of the famous places 

in Gettysburg. it was AWESOME! But that day was 

extremely hot. In the main town of Gettysburg we 

found a really good ice cream shoppe. I got a coke float, 

it was very yummy! I got a 12 ounce coke float, my 

cousin got a 12 ounce, my father got a 20 ounce and 

my aunt got a 12 ounce.

3. Do you think my father got sick?

   Yummy!
