INTRODUCTION

Hi, my name is Clay and I'm a 6,000 year old sedimentary rock. This is my journey through the rock cycle.

I was just laying around until I heard a giant explosion from the mountain under me. Just then I realized the mountain was a dormant volcano and it was going to erupt.

As it erupted, the lava tried to pull me in, but I rolled until I got pulled in by the flaming mass.

1,000 years went by and I woke up and found out I was stuck in a cooled pool of molten rock (known as igneous rock)!

I wonder how long it will take to get to a cave to cool off, because I'm still steaming.

Wait, I've just found out I've turned into an igneous rock, so cool!

So let's get out of here and go into the cave that looks to be a few hours away! I've got it. I'll go down on the ramp made of cooled igneous rocks.

Oh no! I'm rolling into the cave that is being crushed by a few bolders! I need to find an opening to get in. I'm going to wing it, here I go!

I barely made it in, but now I'm being crushed in the collapsing tunnel inside the cave. It's a very tight space and it feels really warm!

Wait, I know what this place is, it's the tunnel into the volcano!

I'm going to try to get some sleep, and I hope the avalanche doesn't stop me.

I just woke up, 2,000 years has gone by, and I saw a little tunnel and that's going to be my escape.

I just started rolling thru that tunnel and I hope it's about to end.
