They are the tribe Sacagawea was captured from eventually meeting up with them on the expedition. they gave the corps food, shelter and horses to help them on there expedition.

They traded for goods such as weapons,food, and horses. They traded protection for new land and things that they had never seen before that the us made.

During the winters it was very cold on expedition. In summers it can get very hot.

The rocky mountains were hopeful of good news for lewis thinking they could see the pacific from the top. But on august 12 he reached the top and only saw more mountains. Thats what led them to the shoshone tribe which was sacagawea’s tribe she was taken from.

This is where Sacagawea was added to the expedition to help Lewis and Clark along the rest of expedition. The people of fort Mandan also gave them maps of nearby tribes and help them through the winter of 1804
