Sacagawea
She was a very important part in the journey. She was a native American who helped translate for Lewis and Clark. She knew the land very well and helped with directions when they didn't know where they were going. On their journey she helped them establish good relationships with other tribe members. One time when they were in need of horses from a tribe she got them. When they were on their trip she also got reunited with her brother.

Seaman
He was Lewis's dog that went on the journey. He was the only animal to make the whole trip. They don't actually know his color but they think he was a black Newfoundland dog.

Trading
Lewis and Clark traded many items on their journey to help them establish relationships with the Natives and to help continue with the expedition. Items they traded are pipe hawks, knives, assorted fish hooks, chiefs coats, and assorted colors of beads.

Weapons
Lewis and Clark traded many weapons with the Natives and brought weapons along with them from the beginning. Firearms were very helpful for every day use. They used them to shoot animals for food to eat.

Plants
Lewis and Clark discovered many plants along their expedition. They documented all the plants they found in journals. They found over a hundred new types of plants. They figured out what was safe to eat and what wasn't. Here are some different plants they found along the way bear grass, big sagebrush, bitterroot, cluster rose, and edible thistle.

Animals
Lewis and Clark found many types of animals. They figured out which animals were dangerous and which ones were safe to stay around. They discovered coyote, channel catfish, bull snake, grizzly bear, and cutthroat trout.
