John Adams
-He defended British soldiers that killed five Americans in the Boston Massacre. The soldiers were considered innocent.
-He cast the tie-breaking vote at least 31 times during 8 years as vice president and leader of the Senate, a record that has not been matched.
-He was the first president to live in the White House, he moved in before it was finished.
-Adams died on the same day as his rival Thomas Jefferson of July 4th' 1826,the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Adams was known for the patriot cause, at first as the outcome of his opposition to the Stamp Act of 1765.He argued that the Stamp Act disadvantanged the American colonists of the basic rights to be taxed by consent and to be tried by a jury of peers. In 1770, he justified defending the soldiers on the grounds that the facts of a case were more significant to him than the intense disposition of the people. Reaction to Adams's defense of the soldiers was unsympathetic, and his law practice suffered greatly.However, his actions later elevate his status as a dauntless, liberal, and fair man.

-At just 5 feet and 4 inches tall Madison was the smallest president of the United States.
-He came from a family who were the largest landowner in Orange County. He was the oldest out of 12 childeren.-

In the presidential election of 1808, Madison conquered Federalist candidate Charles Cotesworth Pinckney to become the nation's fourth chief executive. He faced problems from overseas, as Britain and France had continued their strike on American ships pursuing the embargo. In retribution, Maidson provided a war procalamtion against Britain in 1812. Congress had not accurately funded or prepared an army, and a number of the states did not support what was attributed to as "Mr. Madison's War" and would not allow their mlitias to join the campaign. The U.S. met defeat much of the time both on land and at at sea, but its well-built ships proved to be formidable foes.

Andrew Johnson
-Johnson never attended school. In fact, he taught himself to read.
-He fought agaisnt the radical republicans during reconstruction.
-He was born in a log cabin to a poor family,his parents were nearly illiterate4.
-Andrew is one out of five presidents who never ran for the office of president and was selected by default.

With the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln, Johnson became the seventeenth president of the United States. Although and honorable man, Andrew was one of the most unfortunate of President. Arrayed against him were theRadical Republicans in Congress, brilliantly led and ruthless in their tactics. Entering politics, he became an adept stump speaker, championing the common man and vilifying the plantation aristocracy. In 1864 the Republicans conteding that their National Union part was for all loyal me, nominated Johnson, a southerner and a Democrat, for Vice President.
