Philosophy is the study of the fundamental nature of knowledge, reality, and existence, especially when considered as an academic discipline.
So in more simple terms Philosophy is a way of thinking about the world, the universe, and society.

Who: John Locke
Born: 1632 at Wrinton in somerset
Died: 1704 buried at high laver in essex
What is he: Locke is the greatest english proponent and the father of english empiricism.
What happened to Locke: Locke held a number of positions until he was expelled from england in 1684 for supposed complicity in Shaftesbury plots.
Studied: Mathematics and Medicine at Christ Church College in Oxford.
Degree: Locke held various academic posts and became a physician and a confidential adviser.
As a philosopher: Locke insisted on the primacy of experimental science and philosophy over the subtle quibbles of traditional aristotelian modes of his thought.
Locke's work: wrote 2 treatises on government in 1679 and 1680 but it was too radical and too dangerous to be published but then finally appeared in 1690. Locke also wrote an essay concerning human understanding which was published in 1690.
Locke believed that man had existed once in a state of nature (a creature), but the creature was created in gods image.

Who: Jeremy Bentham
Born: 1748 in london, United kingdom
Died: 1832 in London, United Kingdom
What is he: Bentham was a Philosopher and an avid reader after attending the Westminster school from 1755 to 1760.
Fun fact about Bentham: After Westminster school he went to Queen's College and took his degree in 1763 at the age of 15.
Studied:
Degree: In 1766 he studied at Lincolns inn and received a master of arts degree.
What did Bentham do: Bentham being an English philosopher, political theorist, and a jurist; Bentham expounded the ethical doctrine known as utilitarianism.
What is utilitarianism: Utilitarianism is the doctrine that actions are right if they are useful or for the benefit of the majority.
Education: Bentham cared very little for his own education because he insisted that mendacity and insincerity are the only sure effects of an english university education, and cared even less about succeeding as a practicing lawyer.
Another fun fact: Bentham knew 4 different languages being latin, greek, french , and english.
