Polar bears are marine mammals, so they spend much of their time on Arctic sea ice. Polar bears are very well adapted to their icy habitats. When sea ice decreases, it is hard for polar bears to live. Since polar live at the sea, people in Latin call the polar bear a Ursus maritimus. Ursus maritimus mean sea bear.
