This organ controls your senses, behavior, and body movement.
It is the command center for the body.
5
What are the parts of the brain?
6
The brain is divided into 3 parts.

The fore-brain, mid-brain, and hind-brain. Plus, there is the spinal cord.
7
The fore-brain includes the cerebrum, thalamus, and hypothalamus.
The Cerebrum controls your thoughts and actions.
The Thalamus controls your senses.
8

The Hypothalamus controls your emotions, thirst, hunger, and it controls the functions you do without thinking(breathing, your heart beating, and digesting).
9

Cerebrum

Brain stem: includes pons and medulla
10
The mid-brain is made up of the Tectum and Tegmentum. The mid-brain is part of the brain stem.
They are involved with functions such as vision, hearing, eye movement, and body movement.
11

The hind-brain is made up of the cerebellum, pons, and medulla.
12
The medulla maintains vital bodily functions. This is also in the brain stem.
The Cerebellum controls your balance, posture and coordination.
The Pons controls sensory analysis and motor control. This is part of the brain stem.
13
The Spinal Cord is the link between the body and brain
The upper end of the spinal cord merges with the base of the brain
The spinal cords lower end branches into separate nerves that run down the remainder of the spinal column
14

15
What is anesthesia?

a drug that knock patients unconscious, and keeps them from feeling pain and moving during procedures
