Britain had taken over India. India had created a very successful trade system which brought in a lot of money and Britain wanted it.

Gandhi was born in Porbandar, India, on October 2nd, 1869. He was married to Kasturbai by the age 13, wich was a standard at the time.

In 1888, Gandhi's first child of 4 was born. Soon after, at the age of 19, he sailed to London to continue his legal education becoming a lawyer.

When Gandhi moved to South Africa he faced devastating racism against Indians. They were banned from first class railroads if white people were there, many hotels, beaten and treated unfairly.

To show their anger Gandhi started turning everyone against British goods, getting them to stop using the resources. He led peaceful marches, fasted, and praised the mass defiance of unfair British laws.
