Basketball was made in 1891 in Springfield, Massachusetts by Dr. James Naismith. Basketball usually had a peach basket and ball. Originally played with a soccer ball. The basket was nailed to a 10-foot elevated track.

Back in the Day
Basketball originally used a soccer ball. The first ball made for basketball was brown. In the late 1950s, they created a ball that would be visible to players. Dribbling was not apart of this sport at this time. A bounce pass was used. Dribbling was later introduced. Dribbling is a major part of the game.

There are 4 quarters in a game with 10 or 12 minutes in pro basketball. In high school games, it's 8 minute quarters. Half-times are usually 15 minutes. Only 5 players from each team can play on the court.

Uniform
The uniforms in the early times were short shorts and a shirt in the shape of a tank top. Later all this changed to long BASKETBALL shorts (that goes to the knee) . The team coach provides a comfy tank top jersey.
