Assimilating in America is very hard for many immigrants. Immigrants have to learn their way around the new country they call home. Belen learned to use the transportation in New York to travel to work, home, and other places. For Belen it was difficult to get used to getting on the bus and learning her way around a country she knew nothing about.

Becoming American for Chin was difficult because he came as a paper son. Chin had to lie that he had American born parents in order to go to the U.S. In the image to the left Chin is being investigated by American officers to prove that he really is the child of the American born people. This was the biggest step for Chin into assimilating into America because he was proving himself to the American officals in order to be grnated entrance into America
