There once was a frog who was very different than all of the other animals in the pond. Sometimes he would jump higher than the others and sometimes he would accidentally hurt the other animals too.

2
Other times he was a very sweet frog but he did not know how to be the same as all of the other animals and he could not control himself when he got extra jumpy. He did not understand and that was not his fault. He was just different.

The other animals who were supposed to help the frog when he visited the pond were not very helpful at all. They would take him on strolls around the pond…but only if he was well behaved. They would do puzzles with him but they always did them for him. When the frog became his extra jumpy self they would just let him loose and sometimes he would hurt himself or others by accident.
5
They just sat back and watched.

6
He did not feel welcomed at all.

One day the frog became his extra, extra jumpy self and the other animals tried to hold him down. This was not a nice thing for them to do and the frog became scared and got hurt.

"The Little Frog"
This is an assessment story that will resonate with me throughout my whole life. Essentially, one of my clients (who is severely autistic and demonstrates high behaviours) was neglected in his school placement. He was the highest behaviour that the school had and in my opinion they did not do all they could to help him. They are trained for this and I felt that they did not try and they simply did not want him there. They assessed him to be too high in behaviours and not worth the time or help required. They would let him head bang and just tally them instead of prompting him to stop. He would come home with bruises on his forehead and the counts reached past the 100s. They then restrained him even though he has a no restraint policy and he was injured in the process. We pulled him out of school but were left at a loss of trying to find a placement to take him. We did not want him to lose the progress that he had made. Luckily, we were able to get him into a school that was equipped to have him and more importantly wanted him to be there.
