Earth is sometimes called the "Water Planet" because 71% of the Earth's surface is covered by water.

2
Water is never sitting still! The constant movement of water on, above, and below the Earth's surface is known as the water cycle.

3
The water cycle also includes water changing between liquid, vapor, and ice.

4
The four main stages of the water cycle are: evaporation and transpiration, condensation, precipitation, and collection.

5
Stage one of the water cycle is evaporation. Evaporation is when the sun heats water and transforms it from liquid to vapor.

6
Stage one of the water cycle also includes transpiration. Transpiration is when green plants release moisture into the atmosphere.
