Definition of Electricity
Electricity is the form of energy that is created through negative and positive ions. Electricity can move through wires and power homes, buildings and many other places around the world.
Electricity is formed by electrons. Electrons are made up of atoms from which everything is made.

Static Electricity is when two or more things rub together to make an electric charge.This electric charge causes objects to stay together. Static electricity is an example of potential energy because it does not move.
Current Electricity is when electrons from electricity move in currents from one place to another. Current electricity is an example of kinetic energy because is it in motion.

Static Electricity
When you rub your feet on the carpet and touch a someone, you get shocked. This is an example of static electricity because you rubbed your feet to create electricity that shocked your friend.

Lightning is an example of current electricity because it's a fast moving set of electrons in the air, even though it's really fast.

Powering our Personal Lives
We use electricity every day in our personal lives. We use electricity to charge our cell phones overnight. We use electricity to charge our electric tooth brushes. We also use electricity to power our hair dryers and flat irons.
