Hello! My name is Paco. I am a Native American. I am going to teach you about the cultures of many Native American tribes all from all over the United States. Follow me on my journey.
2
Native Americans were the first people to live in North America. They live in different groups, called tribes. Each tribe has it's own language, traditions, and set of rules.
3
Lenape Tribe

The Lenape tribe lived in the north part of the United States in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey. They spoke a language called Unami. They lived in villages of round houses called wigwams made of wood and grass. The Lenape tribe used tree bark to build canoes in order to travel on the rivers.

4
Apalachee Tribe
The Apalachee tribe lived in the northern part of Florida. The tribe spoke their own Apalachee language. Each family lived in their own hut made out of tree bark. They also used canoes that they built from trees in order to travel through the oceans.

5
Chickasaw Tribe
The Chickasaw tribe lived in the southeast in the states Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee. This tribe spoke a language called Choctaw. They lived in villages of houses and farms made out of plaster and strong branches called rivercane. In order to travel over land, they used dog sleds.

6

The three tribes we have looked at so far have lived on the eastern side of America. Let's travel now out west and see who lives over there.
7
Pueblo Tribe
The Pueblo tribe lived in the southwestern deserts of New Mexico. They did not all speak the same language, but many spoke either the Hopi language or the Zuni language. They lived in pueblos which are houses with many floors made of clay. For travel, the Pueblo tribe either walked or used a dog sled called a travois.

8
Makah Tribe
The Makah tribe lived on the northwest coast in Washington. They spoke their own Makah language. They lived in villages of rectangle houses made out of planks of wood. They traveled along the coast in canoes dugout from large trees.

9
Cocopa Tribe
The Cocopa tribe lived in Arizona and Mexico. They spoke their own Cocopa language made of very long words. They lived in earth houses made of clay and grass. Their main travel method was walking. They occasionally used rafts.
