One fine day Kenny was in her sloppy room. She was writing in her diary. She had a big secret she didn't want to tell her mother. Even though she was a boy on the outside, she thought she was a girl. She liked people to call her she, not he, but she didn't tell anyone!

Her mother came in soon later and said, "I enrolled you in soccer! It is what all the boys do." Kenny wanted to cry. "I want to do ballet! I am a girl mom!" Kenny screamed. "Calm down! Look, I know you are a boy. B-O-Y. You cannot change that." Kenny didn't answer.

Kenny ran from her mother into the woods south of her home. She sat and thought. My body is a boy, but I am not. She said it over and over in her mind. Then, her friend came up. It was her best friend Mimi. Her and Mimi did everything together, but Mimi did not know Kenny's secret.

Mimi came over to Kenny. "Hey Kenny! You look kinda down! Wanna talk?" Kenny knew Mimi wouldn't tell anyone. "Mimi, I know I'm a boy, but on the inside, my heart says I'm a girl!" Mimi stared at Kenny. "I know how that feels..." Mimi said. "How?" Kenny asked. "I feel like a boy on the inside. I hate this dress."
