We are the Schmitz family. My mom celebrates Christmas while my father
celebrates Hanukkah. Christmas is celebrated by people of the Christians
faith and Hanukkah is celebrated by people of the Jewish
faith.

My mom explained that Christmas is about the birth of Jesus the son of God. Every year we celebrate his birth on December 25th. Jesus was born in a manger where 3 wise men brought the baby Jesus gifts. The 3 wise men brought Francksise(perfume), Gold and Myrrh(medicine).

Just like the wise men that brought the baby Jesus gifts We celebrate his birth by giving our friends and family gifts in remembrance of Jesus. As a tradition in our home we go to church at night on December 24th to hear the story of the birth of Jesus. When we arrive at home we leave cookies and milk as a snack for Santa. After traveling all night he must be hungry.
5
Santa is also believed to bring gifts to good girls and boys on the night before Christmas all around the world. Santa Claus 8 eight reindeer are named: Comet, Cupid, Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Donder Blitzen. Oh and how can I forget the 9th and most important reindeer of all Rudloph the red nose reindeer. He guides Santa’s sleigh full of gifts during the night.
6
Then we eat dinner and we go to bed early waiting for Santa to leave the gifts under the tree. When we wake up in the morning we open our presents as a family and we visit family through the day wishing them a Merry Christmas.
7
Chanukah also known as the Festival of Lights, is my favorite Jewish holiday! It is called the Festival of Lights because once a jar of oil was used to light a menorah in the Holy Temple of G –d that miraculously burned for eight days and nights. It was used to purify the Temple from the invaders that overthrew the Temple at that time.
