Jenny and her family live next door to Mr. and Mrs. Andrews.
Mr. and Mrs. Andrews are an elderly couple who live alone. They are special friends to Jenny and sometimes feel they treat her like a granddaughter.
When Jenny visits Mrs. Andrews, there are usually chocolate cookies just freshly baked and Mrs. Andrews teaches her all about the types of flowers in her garden. Jenny’s favorite flowers are the pink roses.

An accident happened a few days ago. Mrs. Andrews fell on the sidewalk, sprained her right arm, and now her arm is wrapped in a brown colored fabric bandage.
The doctor said it wasn’t broken which was an enormous relief, but it is still very sore and won’t feel better for about a week. It will be difficult for Mrs. Andrews to manage the house cleaning and meals, even though Mr. Andrews can only help out slightly.
When Jenny returned home from school today she saw her mom spooning some stew from the cooking pot into 3 large plastic containers. She wondered why.

Jenny questioned “Mom, why are you filling those 3 containers with stew?”
Jenny’s mom replied, “These are for Mrs. Andrews next door, she hurt her arm so it's difficult for her to cook or do house cleaning so I’m cooking some stew to help with some meals to make it easier on her."
Jenny then asked, “Why can’t Mr. Andrews help her, he lives there too?”.

Jenny’s mom explained that even though Mr. Andrews does live in the same house, he is an elderly man with health problems so he wouldn't be able to help out very much.
Suddenly, Jenny thought of an idea.
"Mom, what if I helped Mrs. Andrews with some of her house cleaning? I could dust the furniture, wash some dishes and take some of her garbage outside. I would do it after I came home from school."
