My summer vacation began with a trip to the Grand Canyon. We left California in early June with my mom, my dog and Paul. We began by camping at Kaibab National Forest. We camped in a tent over night. The next day we set out for the south rim. There is no water flowing through the south rim. We hiked all day along a trail above the Grand Canyon. We visited the shops there and I bought a Grand Canyon shirt with money I came by and saved for my school grades at Crestline Elementary School. I am going into the second grade.

Camping in the Kaibab National Forest near the Grand Canyon is free. It was very comfortable at night sleeping in the tent. It is best to bring sleeping bags to keep warm as it can get a bit cold at night and it was a bit chilly in the morning. The camp site we chose was in the middle of the woods. We only spent that night and the following day hiking at the Grand Canyon. The canyon is awesome and we saw deer and other animals there.

We left the Grand Canyon and went east. We went through Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and arrived in Tennessee. We traveled on Interstate 40. We stopped along the way to eat and drink and to take pictures. We took pictures of three very big crosses on the interstate highways. We stopped and took pictures at an Indian store and Paul bought some blue rocks called turquoise so that his friend in Knoxville, Tennessee could make some jewelry. We stayed overnight in a hotel in Fort Smith Arkansas. We had breakfast and then headed east. The sun and moon rise in the east. When we got to Knoxville Tennessee we went to Jeff and Karla's house.

I saw these three very big crosses during the summer. The first one was along Interstate 40 in the state of Texas and the other two were in the state of Tennessee along the Interstate 75 north and south of Knoxville, Tennessee. I saw the one north of Knoxville when I went to visit the Norris Dam for the 80th anniversary and I saw the one south of Knoxville when I was going to visit my grandmother in the state of Georgia before I returned to California. I had to be in school in early August. The kids in Knoxville were already in school when I left. The people that we met along the way and in Tennessee were very nice and I want to thank y'all. I had a very good time.

There are many parks in Knoxville, Tennessee. I have been to Victor Ashe Park, Powell Station Park, World's Fair Park, Fort Kid Park, Powell-Levi Park, Karns Community Park and Ijams Nature Park. They are all fun. There is a doggy park at Victor Ashe Park. Fort Kid Park is mostly wood. Powell Station Park is a small park with water. Karns Park has a pool. I like the World's Fair Park the best. I also went to two lake parks, Bull Run Park and Carbide Park also know as Clark Center Park in Oak Ridge Tennessee where I am told "mad scientists" made the atom bomb.
