Marbury vs. Madison

John Marshall established the principle of judicial review from the Marbury vs Madison case. This case was the first time when a court invalidated a law by calling it unconstitutional.

McCulloch vs. Maryland

Marshall wrote the opinion of the Court which stated the Bank of the United states was constitutional and Maryland tax was unconstitutional. His actions resulted in the creation of the 2nd bank of the US.

1. Marshall was the longest working Chief Justice and worked for around thirty years.
2. Marshall was one of two Chief Justices to have appeared on US currency.
