Diary Entry #1

My name is Margaret Anne. My job is a housewife. I usually do the cleaning and cooking in the house, but I don't mind. These two are my children. Jacob is 5 years old (on the left), and Henry is 8 years old (right side). My husband is a farmer, and he has been working very hard in taking care of his crops to help support our family. The weather conditions aren't doing so well in Oklahoma; therefore we haven't sold many crops. I hope it doesn't get worse.

Stock Market Crashes!

I decided to cut a piece of the newspaper after reading it because it was such a big event.

I can't believe this happened. Luckily for my family, we were not as affected as we could've been by this situation. However, my husband has still been coming home early, telling me that he's been having trouble selling the crops now.

Poverty

We are having a harder time to sell our crops and plants to earn money. Ever since the Dust Bowl came, life has been more difficult than ever. The crops don't grow anymore. The soil doesn't have any nutrients from all the dust swarming around. Unfortunately, we live in one of the states which are affected by the Dust Bowl the most.

Diary Entry #2

Dust. All I see is dust. Everything was already bad; however, one day, dust began to flood inside the house. Our house wasn't stable due to the strong winds blowing outside. I held my children in the darkness as they sobbed. I hope another day like this does not come once again.

A New President??

I'm so glad that Roosevelt won this election. Herbert Hoover never thought of the people. All Hoover had done was help large business corporations. Hoover couldn't have expected himself to win, right? What has he done that would've made us want to even vote for him. I believe Roosevelt can make a difference now.
