The Cold Little Dragon
We have a pet bearded dragon named Ferb. While out of his terrarium he missed his heat lamp. He quickly ran to the heater in the hallway to warm up his body temperature. This is science because bearded dragons are cold blooded and are not native to this climate!

Sci - note
This is a cenote in Mexico near Chichen Itza. Located on the Yucatan Peninsula, there are no rivers or streams, but there are several sinkholes called cenotes. The Mayan used this cenote as a place to conduct sacrifices during droughts. Retrived from the bottom were items like gold, pottery and skeletons!

Chicken Pizza?
This is Chichen Itza, probably the most recognized Mayan structure. There are several astonishing features to this building, but the one that makes me think of science is the room at the top. Our tour guide said that the King would make announcements from there because the structure was shaped for optimal sound resonating from that spot.

You have a pet WHAT?
These two fluffy ducklings are Willow and Clover, and yes they are pet ducks! They are a great way to witness the life cycle of a growing duck. We were able to watch them grow into large white ducks, use their oil gland to protect their feathers, and even lay eggs!

Under the Sea(ttle)
While in Seattle, I went to the Chihuly Garden and Glass Museum. This exhibit, made of blown glass was probably 15 or 20 ft tall. It is incredible how much science goes into creating blown glass art! The temperature, timing, color, technique and materials all have to be just right to create a masterpiece like this!

Little Frog in a Big World
My little brother loves to go on walks, Pokemon hunts, football games, or anything that involves being on Washburn's campus. Last Spring we went to the pond by the art building and caught tadpoles. It was really cool for Jonah to see what a "young frog" looks like, and hold one too!
