Introdction
Snow leopards are fascinating big cats, with their beautiful silver-white fur and striking yellow, light green, blue or grayish colored eyes.
Did you know?
Snow leopards make many different noises such as growls
to hisses to purrs. Unlike most big cats, snow leopards can not roar so instead they make a puffing noise called a chuff.

Diet
The diet of the snow leopard varies depending on it's location, but mostly this cat's prey consists of sheep, goats, pika and hare, while in the summer they tend to eat smaller prey such as marmosets. They have very powerful jaws used to sink their teeth into prey.

Habitat
Snow leopards are mostly found around altitudes between 9,800 and 17,000 feet in the high mountains of Central Asia. Their range spans from Afghanistan to Kazakstan and Russia in the north to India and China in the east. China contains about 60% of snow leopard habitat.

Anatomy
With many parts of the snow leopard's body designed to live such low temperatures, these cats are built for the cold!
Snow leopards have dense fur that can grow up to five inches long, and they have large paws to act as snowshoes to keep their paws from sinking in the snow as they walk. Snow leopards have tails almost as long as their bodies, as they use their tails to balance along steep mountainsides.
