In the village of Shen Wu, a faraway land, lived twins named Mei and lily. Mei and lily were born during a war that turned their once rich village into a desolate place. The war lasted more than a decade.
Once the twins reached their teenage years, their parents could not take care of them anymore so, they decided to split the family into two equal parts or halves (1/2). The family of four (4) agreed that they will have 0.5 of the family staying in the village and 0.5 leaving to look for a better life and in hope to reunite. The parents had hoped that with just fifty percent (50%) of the family members staying in Shen Wu, life would be a little easier to handle.

The twins traveled miles away and found refuge in a prosperous kingdom.
Mei and Lily were hired as maids in the palace. The king's advisor was so impressed with Mei, the hardest working one of the two, that he introduced her to the prince.
The prince and Mei fell in love, and the marriage was set.

Mei became the princess of the kingdom. Their future looked brighter. The twins parents moved into the royal palace. The family was finally whole again.

A family of 4 is split in half (1/2) or 0.50 (the decimal), which is the same as 50% (the percentage).
To convert a fraction into a decimal, you have to divide the denominator by the numerator. The denominator is always on the outside if you are doing long division. 1/2, 1 divided by 2 is 0.5 .
To convert a percent into a fraction, you have to put the percent over 100 and simplify like: 50%=50/100= 5/10= 1/2.
To convert a decimal into a percent, you must move the decimal two times to the right. When applied to the decimal, 0.50, you get 50%.
