Long ago in El Paso, Texas there lived a shy armadillo named Andy. Andy loved one thing, and that was running. He loved running so much that he even kept a poster of his favorite runner, Usain Bolt, plastered in his room. But there was one problem. He was extremely slow.

One day Andy saw on a tree a poster that read, "Dear all animals of El Paso. This afternoon you will have the chance to take part in the big Alamo Race." Andy was so exited.

Later that day all of the animals were getting ready to race. The jackrabbit said,"I am going to win the race because I can jump really high!" The deer said,"I am going to win the race because I have strong leg muscles!" The bobcat also bragged,"I am going to win the race because I can pounce!"

When they saw Andy walk up slowly, the animals laughed and laughed at him. "Armadillos arent fast" The bobcat yelled. "You are slow!" The jackrabbit added. "You can't compete with us!" The deer said proudly.

Feeling extremely sad, Andy just sat there and cried. Suddenly an ant whispered "What's the matter"? Andy said "I want to be in the raise but everybody thinks I am not fast enough. "Nonsense!" If you believe in yourself and try hard enough, you can accomplish your goals!" "Well', sniffled Andy, "I'll try."
