For my teacher, because he made me do it

Have you ever wondered what goes on on the dark side of the moon?
Maybe that's where aliens live. Maybe that’s where all the moon-cheese is. Actually you're wrong. The only thing that is on the dark side of the moon is a little man who likes to call himself the Man in the Moon. His real name is Jerry. Nobody, not even Jerry himself knew how long he had been there. All he knew about was his job. As the Man in the Moon it was his job to control everything that happened on the Earth. He would decide what would happen with the weather each day, he would control when the sun comes up and down and he would control everything else that happened down on the Earth.

Though he liked his job, he had always wanted to meet a real person. He was the only one on that side of the moon and he did get very lonely. It had been his dream for as long as he could remember to go down to Earth and have fun with other people.
One day, after pulling the lever to make the sun rise, he decided that it was time for him to fulfill his dream because, after all, he did deserve some credit for everything he had done. Without Jerry, people wouldn't be able to live on the Earth! So, he told himself, he would go down for a day and then come back at night when the sun went down, and that he did. As soon as he had sorted out his plan for the day, he decided there was no time to waste and jumped straight off the moon and down towards the Earth.
He travelled for a long time at a great speed until he could see specks that were sure to be people and cars below him. Excitement built up inside him as they slowly got bigger and bigger and he screwed up his eyes as he braced himself for the hard landing that was about to come…

…But it never came. He opened his eyes, wondering what could have happened, and found that he had landed, but he had felt nothing. Confused though he was, Jerry decided it was just how Earth worked.
He looked around him and eventually figured out that he had landed in a city. Deciding not to waste time, he confidently walked up to the closest person he could see and said,
"Hello, my name is Jerry. Would you like to be my friend?" But the person simply continued talking to the person next to them. Jerry, bewildered at how awfully rude that person was, decided he should try again. This time he said the same thing to a woman carrying a pram with a small baby inside it. He held out his hand for her to shake, but just as the other person had, she completely ignored him and began walking in the other direction. Not even her baby payed him any attention.
Jerry was so confused about this, he stood where he was, pondering these events, for such a long time that when he had given up on pondering, he had completely lost track of the time. He thought about if he should go back up now, because nobody seemed to know he was there. He had no clue about how long he had been standing there, but it felt like hours, maybe even days had passed but the sun hadn't moved and the weather hadn't changed.
