To the 2nd grade! You rock!

One day all of the 2nd grade teachers at KIPP decided to go to the weather station to learn more about being a meteorologist.
What is a meteorologist?

Knock Knock

When they got to the weather station they found all the lights were off and no one seemed to be at the station. Ms. Goldberg knocked on the door. No one answered. However, the door was unlocked. Ms. Goldberg slowly opened the door, turned on the lights and then everyone went inside.
Inside the weather station there was all sorts of tools and equipment. Mrs. Mohre found the TV equipment and danced around on screen and then pretended she was telling the weather on the daily news.
Ouch!

Meanwhile Mr. Freeland was exploring he ran straight into a table and fell to the ground. “Ouch!” he said. Then he got up and looked at the table and saw all sorts of interesting tools. “What are these?” He asked.

Mrs. Conwell came over and picked up one of the tools. “This looks like a barometer,” she exclaimed.
What is a barometer?

Mrs. Gullick picked up another object and said, “This must be an anemometer.”
What is an anemometer?

Ms. Goldberg walks over to the table. “I can’t remember what tool is called but I remember that it is used to measure the direction of the wind.”
What weather tool is Ms. Goldberg thinking of?

Looking at the remaining two tools on the table Mr. Freeland decides to pick one up. Then he says, “this tool is used to measure the amount of rain.”
What tool does Mr. Freeland have in his hand?

Just then Mrs. Mohre comes skipping over to the table. “That means this one must be thermometer,” she says excitedly.
What does a thermometer measure?

Ahhhh!

Just then a rattling sound is heard coming from another room. Mr. Blum shrieks, “What was that?! Who’s there?” Moments later a small fluffy white cloud appears with great big eyes and welcoming smile.
In a soft voice the cloud says, “Hello, my name is Cloudy. Why are you at this weather station?”

The teachers are shocked at what they are seeing, but Mrs. Gullick builds up enough courage to break the silence. “Well… Mr. Cloudy we are teachers you see and we are here to learn more about meteorologists and the water cycle so that we can spread that knowledge to our students back at KIPP.”

Cloudy begins to giggle, “Why didn’t you say so? I know all about the water cycle. Watch I’ll show you!”
Just then Cloudy’s white fluff begins to turn dark and the sound of thunder begins to rumble as lightning shoots from his body turning off the lights.
What type of severe weather is Cloudy emitting properties of?
Just then the 2nd grade teachers begin to feel their bodies shrinking and turning into a liquid state. Another flash of lighting blinds them for a moment and all of a sudden they see a vast amount of water surrounding them. They are outside in what appears to be a lake.
What part of the water cycle would the lake be?
