Sikhism began around 1500 CE.Sikhism hearth is in South Asia, specifically in Punjab, which is present day Pakistan and India . Sikhism began when Guru Nanak Began teaching a faith different from Hinduism and Islam.
The founder of the Sikhism religion is Guru Nanak.The religion began when Guru Nanak started teaching a religion different from Hinduism and Islam.Sikhism was established and developed by ten Gurus.


Punjab is the origin of the Sikhism religion.The Sikhism religion was founded in Punjab Even though the main religions in the punjab area at the time were Hinduism and Islam.
Monotheism is the belief of the existence of only one God.
Polytheism is the belief in or worship of more than one God.
Sikhism is a monotheistic religion because Sikhs use many names to refer to God such as Waheguru.

Through hierarchical diffusion, small populations of Sikhs spread to North America, Australia, and China and started small communities.Out of these 27 million approximately 83% live in India with 76% of all Sikhs living in Punjab

A Universalizing religion attempts to be global, to appeal to all people, wherever they may live in the world, not just to t one culture or location.Ethnic religion appeals to one group of people living in one specific place.Sikhism is a universalizing religion because it is practiced worldwide by different ethnicities.

There are roughly 23.8 million adherents of the Sikhism religion, or about 1% of the worlds population.Sikhism is the fifth most practiced religion in the world.

Sikhs are expected to follow the five K's: Kesh, Kangha, Kercha, Kara, and Kirpan. It is expected that true sikh religiously keeps up with the five k's stated by Guru Nanak.

1.Kesh-uncut hair
Keeping hair uncut symbolizes adoption of a simple life and one's will to accept God's natural gift.
2.Kangha-Comb
small tiny comb to keep hair clean and tidy
3.Kercha-Long Underpants
symbolizes modesty and discipline
4. Kara- Steel Bracelet
a symbol of one’s unbreakable attachment to God
5. Kirpan- small sword
symbolic of their spirituality and the constant struggle of good and morality over the forces of evil and injustice
