A Christmas Mystery
By Lisette Gil
It was beautiful December morning in Honolulu Hawaii. The birds were chirping and the waves are calmly crashing onto the sand on the horizon.

Down the street from the city and slightly up the hill is Kehlani's house.

"Today's going to be a good day, I can feel it." Kehlani said to herself as she walked into her kitchen to make herself something to eat. Which reminded her she needs to go into town to buy some more groceries.

"I think I grabbed everything I need." Kehlani said to herself as she double checks her purse. "I got my grocery list, my wallet, my keys."

As Kehlani arrives at the grocery store , she spontaneously spots her best friend Veronica walking
through the parking lot. She slowly pulls up next to her and yells out her window "Best Friend!" Veronica was slightly startled but her fear quickly went away as she realized who was in the car.

There is never a dull moment when Veronica and Kehlani get together. They ended up having so much fun shopping and catching up with each other. Veronica ended up coming back to the house with Kehlani. After picking up the things she needed, Kehlani stopped for gas and they were headed back up the hill to her house. They listened to music,
talked, danced and enjoyed each others company. The girls decided they were going to have a movie night.

After a very silly and laughable drive, Kehlani and her
friend make it to her house. Although everything looked normal, Kehlani started to get this weird feeling. "Hey, come with me to check something really quick and bring me my bat." Kehlani said with a anxious tone in her whisper. Something told her to check the back room of her house. She grabbed her bat and tip-toed to the back room.

As Kehlani and Veronica walk through the house, they have no idea what to expect. Maybe an intruder perhaps? The suspense was becoming more intense the closer they got to the back of the house. As Kehlani tip-toed closer to the back room, she froze in her foot steps because she heard piece of glass hit the floor. At this point Kehlani knew her instinct was not wrong. Something was not right. Veronica stopped cautiously behind Kehlani and whispered, "What was tha-shhh!" Kehlani cut her off as as she tried to listen for any movement.
