Happy Birthday Mr. T!

One day, George was eating his breakfast. He wondered what he wanted to do today.

George finished his breakfast and turned on the TV to Judge Judy and told himself "I wanna be a judge."

George then began to wonder, what type of court should he become a judge in? Should he be a judge in a District Court? He could be in charge of just a couple of states, and he could stay here in New York City with his friend The Man With the Yellow Hat. He could be in charge of his district, District 2. He would do less cases than the local courts, but more than the Supreme Court. Or should he be in a local Court? He could stay in the same exact city which both courts won't let him do. But he would be stuck with a lot of cases. He'd have to handle every case that came up in New York City, civil, criminal, and appellate. Or maybe he even could become a Justice on the great Supreme Court? He would be one of the most powerful monkey's in the country.

He would have the least amount of court cases, but he wouldn't necessarily work less. His decision would matter more. He would only have cases Justices cared about, 4/9 Justices must confirm that they want the case. He'd have to relate them to the constitution seeing if it's constitutional or not.
George needed some advice with his decision, he asked The Man in The Yellow Hat for some help and what goes on it courts. George told him that he wanted to bust criminals and send them to jail to make the world a better place. But then The Man With The Yellow Hat told him, "you wouldn't just handle criminals you know George, you'd have civil cases as well. A judge handles things like personal, or business conflicts." George didn't seem to mind though. He still wanted to be a judge somewhere. The Man With The Yellow Hat then told him about Original and Appellate Jurisdiction. He said "Original Jurisdiction is the first court to hear the case determining the facts of the case.

Next the Appellate Jurisdiction people would come in, and they would only hear the cases if they were brought to them, but then they will review the case because it was appealed and only look at the legal issues involved. But there are also article 1 courts, and they are created by another section of the government called Congress. It's pursuant to it's power due to the U.S. Constitution.".George also then remembered the story the Man in The Yellow Hat told him when he was a little chimp. He realized he'd been learning about this for a long time, he remembered that in the story, Justice John Marshall established the court system due to Mr. Marbury fighting against Mr. Madison so they established the court systems.

But for now it's lunch time and George took a break to get a little snack.
George heard that a Supreme Court Justice has recently passed away and there was a spot open. He decided that he wanted to fill that spot. But how was he going to get in?

George went to talk with The Man With The Yellow Hat to ask how he could get in the Supreme Court. The Man With The Yellow Hat explained that he would have to take the Civil Service Exam and get a good enough score to get into the Plum Book were he could be nominated by the President to be in the Supreme Court. Then he'd have to be approved by congress. The only problem was that The Man With The Yellow Hat said that it would be very difficult for George to do all of this. But George was determined and he decided to try it!

Today was the big day! George was going to take his exam. George walked down to the District Court House and took his exam.

George had finished his test and went back home and waited for his results.
...
2 weeks later George got his results. He was very nervous to look at them.
