How the Milky Way Started

The Milky Way is one of the billions of galaxies in the universe. There are many different legends of how it was created. Here is our legend.

Once upon a time when we were in the medieval times, two people, a man and a woman, became best friends. They would walk to the border of their kingdoms every day and ride horse on a trail in the woods. One day, their parents found out about their secret relationship. The woman's mother, Queen Athena, banned her daughter from seeing him ever again. The man's father, King Douglas, banned him from seeing her.

The two of them decided to sneak out at night so their parents wouldn't see. But, their parents found out. So, their parents decided to split them up. Douglas built a wall at the border of the two kingdoms, and they were never able to see each other again. After a few months went by, the woman went out to get some milk from the market. Her mother did every other time, but this time, she went.

When she got to the market, she saw a lone horse. It had no rider but it had a tag on it. It was from Douglas's kingdom. She was thinking of a way to get over there but she didn't know how. She saw a knight from the other kingdom and brought the horse to him. Later that evening, the woman snuck out of her castle and somehow managed to get into Douglas's kingdom. She went searching everywhere for her friend, but couldn't find him.

After almost an hour of searching, she still could not find him. Until, she went and checked in the dungeon. She found him locked up in a cell. She grabbed the key because the guard fell asleep. After he got out, he thanked her a lot. They were walking together towards the wall, when all of a sudden, they heard someone yelling at them. It was Athena.

When Athena was done yelling at them, the parents just decided to give up and let them be together. When the wall came down and they reunited, a bright light appeared. It was made of billions of stars. They decided to call it the Milky Way. Now, it is the galaxy that we live in.
