Roles of Therapy Dogs

They have to visit people with physical or mental disability and make them happy. They run and jump around the disabled and let people pat them. When they are around others, they will fill their hearts with joy.

Selection

Therapy dogs must enjoy human contact, excessive petting and be comfortable around healthcare equipment. They also have to master the basic obedience.These dogs also need to have a good temperament.

The dogs are normally chosen when they are very young.

They are trained to socialize with new people, places , objects and surfaces. The necessary behaviors are, 'look it', 'leave it', 'loose leash walking' and not jumping on people.
