Today is the day! I have been working towards this exciting day my whole life and it is finally happening.

Texas is finally free! I fought and was a leader in the Texas Revolution to see this big day. We won our independence from Mexico after a year of long hard battles.

I, Jose Antonio Navarro, get to sign my name on the Texas Declaration of Independence.

I practiced my signature all night until my pen did not work anymore and it paid off because I would say my name looks the best on that fancy document.

I take great pride in this document because I, one of the only Spanish men, got to help write it and put it together. We stayed up all night making it, because it was urgent.

We rushed it right over to Washington today to get it approved. And guess what? It was!
