Hello, my name is David Crockett, people call me Davy. I am a famous frontiersman from Tennesse known for my bravery and the adventures I went on.

I was born on August 17, 1786, in Eastern Tennessee. I grew up having to help support my family and didn't recieve any education, but I learned important wilderness skills because I had to survive in a harsh environment.

With my outdoor experience, I became an excellent hunter and trapper. I learned to have incredible aim and the ability to track animals, including bears and raccoons.

In 1813, when I was 27 years old, I bravely helped the Tennesse militia win the Creek War against the Creek Native Americans. I gained a good reputation for myself from this battle.

Elizabeth Patton Davy Crockett

In 1806 I married my first wife, Mary Finley, and we had three kids together. She passed away in 1815, and I remarried to Elizabeth Patton who was also a widow with children.

Elizabeth and I were farmers, living day to day trying to support our family. I began slowly rising in rank, from Colonel to commissioner, and was eventually elected to serve as a Tennesse representative.

They even made a statue of me and put it in the Tennessee capitol building in Nashville!
After I was a United States Representative, I was elected and served in Congress for eight years. I advocated for the rights of regular people like myself. I was very popular!

Here are my credentials to prove it!

Although I was popular with the people, I was controversial amongst other politicians. I disagreed with many things but mainly the Indian Removal Act that forced Native Americans off of their land.

I ran for re-election but didn't win, I was ready for a new adventure and I knew just the place....
Texas needed aid in their fight for freedom so I joined them.
