welcome to my book on genetics.  Genetics is the study of genes, genetic variation and heredity in living organisms. It is generally considered a field of biology but it intersects frequently with many of the life sciences and is strongly linked with the study of information systems.

Genetics is the study of heredity. Heredity is a biological process where a parent passes certain genes onto their children or offspring. Every child inherits genes from both of their biological parents and these genes in turn express specific traits.

Some traits may be physical such as hair color eye color and skin color.  Diseases may also be passed from parents to their children. This happens when 2 parents have the same gene and pass it on to their child.

Genetic information lays in the cell nucleus of each  living cell in the body.  The genes live in the chromosomes.  Humans have 23 small thread like structures in the necleus of their cells. 23 or half of the 46 comes from the mother and the other 23 or half comes from your father.
