Hi! My name is John and I am going to tell you all the ways that genetics affects me.

Genetics is something that has a big impact on people. It is what makes you look, act, and sound the way that you do. You inherit your genes from your parents and your environment can change what type of gene is active.

So my looks come from my mom and dad. How you may ask? It is by the dominant and recessive traits that they have. Since my parents both had brown eyes and brown hair I also have brown eyes and brown hair. The traits that they have were passed on to me and make me who I am!

Even with all the traits on the outside that you can see I also have genes on the inside. One other major thing I inherit is blood type. Since both my mom and dad are A positive I also have that type of blood. This affects me because the type of blood I have can make getting blood transplants better or worse depending how common that type is. 

Like I said before environment is also a big impact. Depending on where you are raised it can turn different genes on or off. If you have a gene that makes you more prone to become an alcoholic if you live in an alcoholic household you will most likely turn that gene on. But if you live in a house that doesn't drink they you wouldn't be an alcoholic because the gene hasn't been influence.
