"Oh, love will make a dog howl in rhyme." - Francis Beaumont

My friend Angela and I liked to go for walks in the woods. We loved the fresh air and picking flowers for our moms. We saw all kinds of woodland creatures during our walks including squirrels, hedgehogs, and sometimes bunny rabbits.

We were having a lovely afternoon until we heard a strange growling noise. "Maybe we should go home now" Angela said. "Yeah, I think you're right." As we began to walk away, I noticed that I had dropped some flowers on the ground. "I'll be right back. I dropped some flowers."

"C'mon Hillary! Hurry up!" "I'm coming!" As I bent over to collect the flowers, I started to feel giant drops of rain falling from the sky. But those weren't rain drops, it was doggy slobber. Ewwwwww!

"Hillary what's taking you so long? Holy Moley! A giant dog!" "Hi girls. Don't be afraid. I'm a big boy but very gentle. My name's Quigley but everybody calls me Bigly because of my size." We were speechless. "I've been living in the woods ever since my owners abandoned me. Well, it was nice meeting you." "Wait! Do you want to come home with me?" I asked.

The big dog followed us to my house. "I'm going to have dinner now but I promise I'll bring you something to eat." "Thank you so much Hillary. You're such a sweet kid" he said before giving me a sloppy lick. "Hi dear" my Mom said as I walked inside with my flowers. "Why are you so wet?" "Um, I fell in a puddle." "Well go get changed into some dry clothes. Dinner will be ready soon."

Later that night, I waited for my parents to go to sleep before I snuck downstairs. I rummaged through the fridge looking for something that Bigly could eat. I was finally able to find a couple of steaks. "Here you go boy. That's all I could find. I'll go to the pet store and buy you some dog food tomorrow."

BRUNO'S PET FOOD

The next morning my friend Angela and I headed over to the local pet food store. We both used all of our allowance money to stock up on dog food. "Thanks so much Angela. This ought to keep his tummy nice and full for the next little while."

BURP!
In a matter of seconds, Bigly had eaten two weeks worth of dog food. "I'm still hungry!" he cried out. "What do we do Hillary?" "I guess I'll have to ask my Mom for some more money. I'll tell her we're going to the movies." "Hillary!!!" "Oh no! It's my Mom!"

"Where did all of these empty dog food cans come from? We don't have a dog! Are you feeding a stray? While I'm at it, do you know what happened to the steaks I was defrosting in the fridge? And furthermore........what the heck is that thing?"
