In 1936, in a New York Alley, a group of cats were starting to live peacefully again after the Great War between the cats and the dogs.

On a cold rainy night a big dog pack came to the alley. They said, "Please help us! We need a place to stay. Our alley is overcrowded."

The cats were a little scared of the dogs, but they also wanted to help them. The cats knew the Treaty of the Alley was very harsh on the dogs. One thing it did was force them to give up most of their land.

the cats gave them some space in their alley. At first the dogs were friendly, but they kept demanding more of the cats food they collected and more space in their alley.

The cats could have said no to sharing some of the land with the dogs. but they felt sorry for the dogs and didn't want to cause a fight.

But, the dogs started taking all of the cats’ food, so the only thing to eat was trash. The cats still were worried about starting a fight, so they let this continue, even though two members of their group went missing during this time.

After three years the cats decided they needed to fix the problem they started. the cat leader called a meeting. “We need to take our alley back,” he said. “But we also need some help.” He sent two cats to find their friends, the striped cats.

They left and searched the other alleys.
