Toby has always loved snow. He dreamt about snow and even made his own snow with confetti. The only problem was that he never got a chance to see real snow fall from the sky. 

When Toby goes to his grandparents house for a visit, he sees his first snow fall. There was a blizzard the day before and they already had 5 inches of snow. He is so excited he decides to find out how much snow falls every hour. Toby finds out that the equation to find out how much snow falls per hour is y=2.5x+5

Toby wants to use this equation, where x represents the amount of hours and y represents the amount of snow in inches, to see when the snow for the next town over is equal to that of his grandparents house. The town had a linear amount of snow which was y=3x+1.

He sets both equations equal to each other and solves. 2.5x+5=3x+1 He then proceeded to move all separate variables to one side by subtracting one from both sides and 2.5x from both sides. It is then 4=0.5x, which is x=8. That means that when they're eight hours in, they both have 25 inches of snow.
